Body condition score (BSC): assessment method that evaluates an animal’s fat and muscles reserves through visual and tactile examination of specific body areas from different angles such as back, ribs, neck, space among thighs and back, tailhead. It uses numerical scales to quantify nutritional status and energy reserves, helping, for example, in welfare monitoring or feeding management.
