The third 4 European Union Reference Centres for Animal Welfare (EURCAWs) Meeting is taking place in Rome on 10-11 June. More than 40 participants from the four EURCAWs will discuss the theme, ‘Strengthening coordination among EURCAWs: state of play and key challenges’.

The event is hosted by the Italian Ministry of Health in Rome. The Italian Director-General for Animal Health, Giovanni Filippini, delivered the opening remarks, after which Jens Malmkvist and Isabelle Veissier offered heartfelt words about Professor Harry Blokhuis.

Over the course of these two days, the EURCAWs will discuss ongoing activities, as well as key strategic actions for the next Work Programme.

The meeting was organised by EURCAW Ruminants & Equines, with tremendous support from the host, IZSAM.
