Researchers from the USA and the Netherlands have published the findings from preliminary research on the effect of solar panels on sheep grazing behaviour. This research highlighted the differences between sheep grazing in fields with and without solar panels. The sheep in fields with solar panels appeared to graze more and spent more time under the solar panels due to the protection from the elements (wind, heat and rain). The authors suggested that further research on grazing behaviour during other seasons is warranted, to better understand the impact of solar panels on sheep. This preliminary research does not indicate any adverse effects for grazing sheep in fields with solar panels.
