SUMMARY
Lameness is a major welfare issue for dairy cows, associated with pain and discomfort. It manifests itself as an abnormal gait resulting from an injury or disease. This Indicator factsheet describes a dynamic and a static scoring system to assess lameness besides providing information on the impact of this condition, as well as legal requirements.
Please note the English version of the factsheet has been updated (April 2025).
