The European Commission has opened the revised Animal Transportation guidelines for public feedback until 12 April 2024. The specific objectives of this proposal are to reduce animal welfare problems due to long journeys requiring repetitive loading and unloading periods, to ensure increased space allowance, to improve transportation for vulnerable animals, to avoid extreme temperatures, to facilitate enforcement through digitalisation, to protect animals exported from the EU and to protect transported dogs and cats.
