In alignment with the Farm to Fork Strategy and furthering the EU’s animal welfare standards, the European Commission has formally requested two new scientific opinions from EFSA. These opinions focus on the welfare of horses and the welfare of donkeys and their hybrids. A technical report on common husbandry systems for these animals has also been requested. The EFSA scientific opinions and technical report are expected by December 2026.
